The Steely Hydrogen 2018 venue is the splendid setting of the interbellum architecture of “De Centrale” in Ghent (Belgium). Until the 1980’s, De Centrale was a coal based urban power plant. The old generators are the silent witnesses of how Ghent provided energy to its citizens half a century ago. Between 1994 and 2000 the building was transformed into an intercultural centre for performing arts providing "mental" energy to the modern city of Ghent.

The conference room is fully equipped for events according to today’s standards. Right next to the conference room, the vast turbine hall will display the poster contributions to SteelyHydrogen2018 and welcome the attendees during the breaks.

The event venue is located at only a few minutes’ walking from the Ghent-Dampoort railway station. Address: Kraankindersstraat 2, 9000 Ghent, Belgium




The early registration fee before February 2018 is 600 €. As from February 28th 2018, the registration fee amounts to 700 € per participant. In case of cancellation before March 1st 2018 the total fee will be refunded. Later cancellations shall not be refunded. Attendee substitutions are allowed. Students (age<26y) and PhD-students pay 500 €.
All fees are inclusive of VAT

The registration fee includes a copy of the Conference e-Proceedings, 3 lunches, the conference evening dinner and conference breaks refreshments.




OCAS has negotiated special rates at hotels near the Conference venue and in the city centre.


Conference dinner


On Wednesday May 30th, OCAS invites all participants to the Conference dinner in the historic setting of the Ghent Opera. This beautiful theatre dates back to 1840 and is located in the historic centre. The three salons (Foyer, Redoute hall and Lully hall) form an impressive 90 metre long enfilade. The actual auditorium is an inviting horseshoe shaped bonbonière.

Prior to dinner, you can enjoy a guided city centre boat trip and disembark at the Opera, or you can take a guided tour in the Ghent city centre.
